Welcome to Between the Pages!

If you love books that make you feel everything (I’m talking pull you in, break your heart, make you lose sleep, kick your feet, and emit noises that would make scientists concerned) you’re in the right place.

Over here, we like to:

  • Do deep-dive book discussions

  • Give totally bias reviews - I love dark romance and you will have to pry morally grey men out of my cold dead hands

  • Share recommendations (mine and yours!) because our TBR list isn’t long enough …

  • Chat about our slightly deranged love for fictional characters - see aforementioned affinity of morally grey men

Why subscribe?

  • Free weekly essays, memes, and community conversations

  • Paid (Dark & Twisted Crew): support my work as an indie author and unlock bonus posts, deleted scenes, and the BTS of writing & publishing in today’s mad world

  • Founding members: help shape the future of this space + get extra thank-yous

Free or paid, I’m thrilled you’re here. But if you want to keep this newsletter alive and get access to all the messy, unfiltered extras, joining the Dark & Twisted Crew is the best way

Who is Rachel D. Oak?

Well, this is awkward, I probably should’ve introduced myself already.

Hey, I’m Rachel, aka TheAuthorRach 👋 I write emotional romance books that explore identity, love, the hot mess of being human, with plenty of bad jokes to keep things interesting. My debut novel Lavender Bay started as an angsty, fanfiction-inspired escape when I was a teenager, and somehow years later it became a real thing. like you can actually buy it on Amazon, freaky.

Nowadays when I’m not writing you’ll find me binge-reading dark romance, engaging in extremely serious debates about fictional men on social media, and pretending I’m romanticizing rainy days when really I just don’t like to leave my house.
